I began this journey years ago, though at the time I had no idea where the path might lead. In fact, I was blissfully unaware that I was on a path at all. The trail was hidden by wild brush and took winding and abrupt curves without warning. But all along, I was heading in this direction. Chasing my dream.
When I made the decision to return to school in 2011, my purpose was simple: to complete my B.A. in English and then pursue a Bachelor of Education. After all, I had always wanted to be a teacher.
Somewhere along that road, the vision changed. I became even more attached to writing than ever before. Words had always intrigued me, and I had enjoyed playing with poetry and fiction writing from a young age.
So when I admitted to myself that I had a true penchant for research and writing, it seemed natural to go in search of a career that could cater to my skills, my passions. To find a place where I could thrive and enjoy every moment.
The answer was not as clear as one would think. In fact, I never would have believed that I would enter the journalism arts program at SAIT, but there I was, embarking on a new adventure. I was terrified at first, until I realized that I truly have a gift.
I was born to travel this path, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to see what lies in store on the road ahead.
